Junoir Corin Hallman named Conference Carolinas Player of the Year

Hallman wins Player of the Year honors; four others voted all-conference

Sumter, S.C. – Junior Corin Hallman (Mt. Pleasant, SC, Wando High School) won the Conference Carolinas Women’s Tennis Player of the Year while Miranda Guthrie (Suwanee, GA, Home-schooled),Abby O'Reilly (Acworth, GA, Harrison High School), and Mika Goyette (Brossard, Quebec, Ecole Secondaire De Mortagne) were voted all-conference.  Head Coach Calhoun Parr was also voted Coach of the Year.

Playing at #1 singles and doubles, Hallman also voted 1st Team All-Conference for the third time.  She led the Flying Fleet to their third straight regular season conference title and their eighth title in nine years.  Hallman was a perfect 10-0 in conference singles play while going 9-1 in conference doubles with teammate Mike Goyette.   Overall, Hallman posted a team-best in singles and doubles at 17-3 and 13-7 respectively.

Freshman Miranda Guthrie was also named 1st Team All-Conference.  Guthrie won her last her singles matches of the regular season to finish 12-8 overall but was also a perfect 10-0 in conference play.  Guthrie partnered with fellow freshman Sarah McDonald (Cottageville, SC, Colleton Preparatory Academy) at #2 doubles most of the season, going 11-7 overall and 9-1 in conference.

Senior Abby O’Reilly was voted 2nd Team All-Conference, the fourth time in her career to be named to an All-Conference Team.  Her freshman year she also was voted Conference Carolinas Freshman of the Year.  O’Reilly had the team’s third best singles record at 14-6 overall and 9-1 in conference.   In doubles play, her and fellow senior Victoria Stephens (Cumming, GA, South Forsyth High School)were an impressive 10-3 overall and 6-0 in conference.

Sophomore Mika Goyette also earned 2nd Team All-Conference recognition, recording the team’s second best record at 15-4 overall and 9-0 in conference from her #4 singles position.  In doubles, Goyette and Hallman were 17-3 overall and 9-1 in conference.

Head Coach Calhoun Parr was also recognized by his peers as the Conference Carolinas Coach of the Year.  Parr directed the Flying Fleet to their second straight undefeated conference season in route to their third consecutive regular season title and their eighth in nine years.  It is the sixth time that Parr has received Coach of the Year honors.

Erskine, the #1 seed, defends their conference tournament title starting today at 12:00 p.m.  The Fleet square off against #8 Coker College.
