Box Score Aiken, S.C. – The Pacers of USC-Aiken (2-4) held off Erskine's rally to defeat the Flying Fleet 72 to 65 tonight in non-conference women's basketball action.
After scoring the second half's first five points to tie the game, Erskine (2-3) yielded ten consecutive points to the Pacers. Freshman Kristin Giles nailed a jumper from behind the arc then found teammate Andrienne Bannerman cutting to the basket to tie the game at 36 to 36. Erskine failed to score on their next three possessions allowing the Pacers put together a 10-0 run.
Erskine plugged away at the Pacers' lead to tie the game again at 57 to 57 with three minutes remaining but could not gain the lead. The Pacers converted five of six free throws down the stretch to win 72 to 65.
Freshmen Raygon Hendrix and Kristin Giles led the Fleet with 14 points each while Bannerman finished with 10 points.
The Pacers were led by Porsha Martin's 20 points and 8 rebounds. Teammate Mariah Durian tallied a double-double with 15 points and a game-high 10 rebounds.
Erskine returns to the hard court next Wednesday, December 4
th, when conference foe King University visits Belk Arena.
