Pfeiffer overwhelms Erskine 79 to 66

Box Score Due West, S.C. – Five Erskine players scored in double-figures but could not overcome the Falcons of Pfeiffer University, losing 79 to 66 this afternoon in Conference Carolinas women’s basketball action at Merner Gym.

Junior Jana Dixon (Conyers, GA, Heritage High School) led the Fleet with her first “double-double” of the season, tying a career-high with 18 rebounds while scoring 10 points.  Dixon has led the Fleet on the boards since returning from injury.

Freshman Tori Whittenberg (Mauldin, SC, Mauldin High School) continues to improve her game, going 4 for 7 from behind the arc, in route to scoring a team-high 19 points.  Sophomore Andrienne Bannerman (Watha, NC, Pender High School) filled the stat sheet, scoring 14 points along with 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 blocks, and 2 steals, while senior Sha'Niqua Whitley (Columbia, SC, Ridge View High School) and sophomore Tara Potter (Sherrills Ford, NC, Bandys High School) contributed 10 points each.

For Pfeiffer, Christina Harvey had a “double-double” with a career-high 32 points and a team-high 11 rebounds.  Jodie Lemons contributed 13 points while Kellie Rhoney had a game-high 11 assists along with 6 points.

Pfeiffer scored the first basket of the game and never trailed.  But it was not until the final five minutes of the opening period that Pfeiffer put the game away with 21 to 11 run to take a 45 to 28 lead at halftime.

Erskine played well in the second half but could not draw closer than 13 points.

After playing the last two games on the road, Erskine hosts King College this Wednesday starting at 5:30 p.m.
