Erskine hammers Allen 62 to 32

Box Score Columbia, S.C. – Erskine hammered Allen University 62 to 32 tonight for their first win of the season in non-conference women’s basketball action.

Erskine wasted little time grabbing an early lead and quickly pushing it to double-digits.  Erskine held Allen to just 17% shooting in the first half while forcing 17 turnovers.  Freshman Tori Whittenberg (Mauldin, SC, Mauldin High School) and sophomore Andrienne Bannerman (Watha, NC, Pender High School) led the charge with 7 and 8 points respectively.

Erskine exploded offensively in the second half shooting 43% from the floor as they extended their lead to thirty points.

Erskine dominated every facet of the game.  Erskine dominated the boards 55 to 37 while forcing 28 turnovers, including 15 off turnovers.  Meanwhile, the Fleet committed a season-low 16 turnovers.

Bannerman posted her fifth “double-double” of the season with 16 points and 10 rebounds.  She also had 3 blocks.  Whittenberg and Lindsey Weidenaar (Evans, GA, Lakeside High School) both finished with 13 points while junior Jana Dixon (Conyers, GA, Heritage High School) had a game-high 13 rebounds.

For the Yellow Jackets, Katrece Daniels had a team-high 10 points.

Erskine travels to Spartanburg, South Carolina, this Thursday to play conference opponent Converse College.  Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m.
