Limestone Holds Off Fleet Rally

Gaffney, SC – The Flying Fleet (11-14 overall, 10-11 conference) got within three points of Limestone (14-7 overall, 16-10 conference) with just 22 seconds remaining on Audrey Timmerman’s 3-point basket but could not pull the upset on the road losing 67 to 61.

Erskine held a slight lead at halftime 28 to 25, despite shooting a feeble 1 for 10 from 3-point range.  On the defensive side, the Fleet kept themselves in the game by limiting the Saints to 38% shooting in the first half and only two foul shots.  Unfortunately, the Saints shot better in the second half (45%) and got to the free throw line twice as many times as the Fleet.  Made free throws (13 to 6) proved to be the difference as the Fleet lost by six, 67 to 61.

Sophomores Porsha Morgan and Elizabeth Tatum led the Fleet with 16 points each.  Elizabeth Tatum also snagged a team-high 6 rebounds on the evening.  For the Saints, Maria Young scored 17 points while Lauren Pace contributed 16 points.  Brittany Miller pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds for the Saints.

The Fleet play their last game of the regular season this Saturday against Queens University at home.  The Fleet will recognize their four seniors on this year’s squad after the game.  Game time is set for 2:00 p.m.
