Charleston, SC – The Erskine women’s basketball team opened their season against in-state division I foe Charleston Southern University last night losing 101 to 54 at CSU Field House.  It was the season opener for both teams.  Junior guard Porsha Morgan (Columbus, GA, LaGrange Academy) led the Fleet with 15 points while freshman forward Jana Dixon (Conyers, GA, Heritage High School) added 13 points in her collegiate debut. 

The Fleet held CSU to just 18 of 44 shooting in the first half, including 1 of 11 from three point range.  Unfortunately, the Fleet turned the ball over 12 times leading to 14 points for the Bucs.  CSU led at halftime 45 to 28.

CSU continued to pressure the ball in the second half, creating 16 more turnovers by the Fleet and allowing the Bucs to cruise to the 101-54 victory.

CSU’s Lakeitha Alston led all-scorers with 27 points while Kelsey Wasmer chipped in 17 points and Katie Tull had 12 points.

The Fleet return to action this Tuesday against local division I foe Presbyterian College.  Game time is set for 11:30 a.m.
